Sea Moss Benefits

Ever since Kim Kardashian posted about drinking a sea moss smoothie, the healthy eating community has been bursting with information about this superfood, claiming that sea moss can help with everything from your skin to your immune system. But how many of those benefits are based on science and how many are just hearsay?

Parkinson’s disease is the second-most-common degenerative disease found in older adults.

It causes tremors, stiffness, and slowness of movement, and there is no cure. But early research shows that sea moss may be able to slow the progression of Parkinson’s disease.

In a study done with worms, extract from sea moss was shown to reduce stiffness and slowness of movement. This could mean promising things for people with Parkinson’s.

May improve the immune system

Sea moss acts as a prebiotic, or a compound that induces growth of helpful bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract. That means sea moss aids digestion, making it more regular and easing issues like constipation and gastritis.

Studies showed that sea moss can stop the growth of S. enteritidis, the bacteria that causes salmonella in humans.

In general, the nutrients, vitamins and minerals found in sea moss help to promote a healthy body and immune system.

By taking sea moss, a child will boost their energy levels as well as their thinking abilities. More specifically, calcium and potassium enhance growth and the development of stronger bones and teeth.

Vision Health

Sea moss can help improve vision due to its high levels of antioxidants. Antioxidants are important for eye health and help protect from damage. Sea moss can also help reduce inflammation, which can further improve vision.

Cognitive Function & Behavioral Health

As sea moss contains high amounts of potassium, a nutrient vital for the function of human body cells, its consumption may improve overall cognitive function and behavior. Potassium-rich foods are also prescribed for depression, anxiety, agitation and fibromyalgia.

Sea moss is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential for brain and nervous system function. It is also believed to have anti-stress and mood-boosting effects, which can be beneficial for active individuals.

Diabetes

Sea moss may offer several benefits for people with diabetes, including: Regulating blood sugar levels: Sea moss contains compounds that may help regulate blood sugar levels, making it a useful supplement for people with diabetes.

Cancer

Sea moss may help protect against cancer due to its anti-carcinogenic properties. This is due to the fact that sea moss is rich in antioxidants and minerals like selenium, which has been shown to have anti-cancer effects.

Sea moss is also a natural body detox and helps eliminate mucous, which is believed to be a disease source. It regenerates and rebuilds most cells in the body- ideal for radiation poisoning and cancer recovery.

Hormonal Health

One of the significant sea moss benefits for women is its role in supporting hormonal balance and thyroid health. Sea moss is rich in iodine, a mineral that is essential for the production of thyroid hormones. These hormones are crucial in regulating metabolism, energy levels, and overall hormonal balance.

Wrinkles & Fine Lines

Sea moss will also increase the skins elasticity and repair the skin cells from any damage. The high concentration of protein and vitamin C in sea moss will boost collagen production and ensure a more supple and firm appearance.
